Seattle opens Season 6 with slim 7-0 win in Dallas

Defensive coordinators reigned, quaterbacks felt the pain as the season opened for the Seattle Regal Pinks on the road in Dallas.

Seattle, the Season 5 champions, brought with them high hopes for continued success under new head coach Don Shula. Shula got the job done, though his vaunted offense managed only a single touchdown and threw away another score with an endzone interception by demi-God Lawrence Taylor.

That single visit to the endzone, on a contested toss from Phil Simms to Seattle hero Vance Johnson, was enough. Dallas played it safe on offense, relying on bellcow running back Charles White to carry the load offensively. White's efforts were admirable but Dallas never threatened the endzone. The defensive highlight for the Seattle 9 was a brilliant interception by Dexter Manley the one time Dallas dared to air out the long ball.

Dexter Manley snares a game-saving interception in the 4th quarter, killing the most credible Dallas threat to score.
